The discovery of polyurethanes: In the 1930s, Otto Bayer of Germany first synthesized TPU. Before and after 1950, TPU appeared as a textile finishing agent in Europe, but mostly solvent-based products were used for dry coating finishing. In the 1960s, thanks to the enhancement of people's environmental awareness and the introduction of government environmental protection regulations, water-based TPU coating came into being. After the 1970s, the water-based PU coating developed rapidly and PU-coated fabrics have been widely used.
