Thermo Launches CrystalVision CO2 Sensor

2006 August 15, Thermo Electron Corporation (Thermo Electron Corporation) introduced new CrystalVisionTMCO2 sensor. The sensor is designed to accurately measure CO2 concentrations in carbonated beverages such as beer, soda and carbonated water.

So far, the beverage industry has relied on the temperature-pressure method to measure CO2 concentration. In some cases, beverage manufacturers' current methods of use may cause deviations due to sampling methods, and the calculation process does not consider the density difference or irrelevant gas, and these factors will affect the temperature-pressure test results.

By using infrared energy and attenuated total reflection (ATR), ThermoVision's CrystalVision CO2 sensor revolutionized CO2 measurement in beverages. This application of new technology ensures accurate, real-time measurements.

CrystalVision CO2 sensors are a cost-effective solution that can be easily deployed and combined into beverage production processes, especially beer brewing. The sensor is able to withstand a "clean-in-place" (CIP) cycle, providing continuous data that can be used to increase production. And this sensor only monitors "true CO2" and will not be affected by pressure spikes or irrelevant gases. In addition to regular calibrations, it virtually does not require maintenance at all. This allows the beverage manufacturer to operate the sensor continuously, avoiding the high replacement costs that would normally be involved with conventional sensors.
