2. Product structure is basically reasonable. In the province's packaging industry, sales of 500 billion yuan, 18 billion yuan in paper packaging products, 14 billion yuan in packaging and printing products, 9 billion yuan in plastic packaging products, 5 billion yuan in metal containers, 2 billion yuan in packaging machinery , auxiliary packaging materials 2 billion yuan.
At present, all types of packaging products in our province are basically complete, but traditional packaging products, such as wooden boxes and sacks, are becoming scarce, and the market share of glass containers is also declining. The increase in various composite packaging, hollow plastic containers and packaging printing is relatively large.
3. Enterprise groups gradually increased the number of large, medium, and small packaging companies in our province. However, in recent years, with the deepening of enterprise reforms, especially the entry of foreign capital, large-scale enterprise groups have gradually increased. Now there are dozens of packaging companies and enterprise groups in our province with annual sales of over 100 million yuan. In 2000, the sales revenue was 2.2 billion yuan, and the leading product PET beverage bottles had a domestic market share of 64%. 4. The level of technical equipment and product development capacity improvement Overall, the province's packaging technology level of equipment in the domestic leading position. Its characteristic is that there are many imported equipments, and many of the technical levels of imported production lines are in the leading position in China. For example, a computer-controlled high-speed corrugated board production line with a speed exceeding 200 meters per minute and a width of 2.5 meters, a 12-color high-speed gravure printing machine, an 8-color metal sheet printing machine, and a high-speed aluminum easy-open two-piece can production line of 1600 cans per minute; 8 meters BOPP (biaxially oriented polypropylene film) production line, BOPET (biaxially oriented polyester film) production line, BONY (biaxially oriented nylon film) production line, and high speed two-step PET (polyester) ) Beverage bottle production lines, etc., used in packaging printing a variety of imported offset, gravure, flexo production lines, but also a large number. However, the level of technical equipment of enterprises varies, and some small businesses still use inefficient equipment.
Some large companies have set up development and research institutions, such as the China Packaging and Printing Production Base of Zhongshan, which cooperates with China Packaging Corporation and Zhuzhou Institute of Technology (the only university in China that specializes in packaging) and established the China Institute of Packaging Science. On the other hand, it must be noted that the majority of packaging companies in our province have weak new product development capabilities, fewer products with real independent intellectual property rights, and many products only imitate each other and are therefore at a low level of repetition.
5. The rapid development of packaging education Many colleges and universities in our province have already established specialties or courses related to packaging, such as South China University of Technology, Guangdong University of Technology, Guangzhou University, Guangdong Light Industry Vocational College, etc., which have trained a large number of backups for packaging companies. Talents also create conditions for the integration of production, education and research in the packaging industry. It is worth mentioning that Zhongshan China's packaging and printing production base cooperated with Zhuzhou Institute of Technology and co-organized the Zhongshan Packaging Academy in the Zhongshan Torch Development Zone. It has become a model of combining production and learning in the country and there are already two graduates.
6. Regional distribution of packaging companies is uneven As mentioned above, the packaging industry is characterized by supporting other industries, so the distribution of packaging companies is often related to other leading industries. For example, in Shenzhen and Dongguan, there are many export-oriented enterprises, and there are many export goods. As a result, carton manufacturers are concentrated. In Dongguan alone, there are more than 1,000 carton manufacturers. High-end packaging and decorating and printing companies are concentrated in the Pearl River Delta region, because home appliances, food, and pharmaceutical products are of high quality and need to be packaged accordingly. In Xiaolan Town, Zhongshan City alone, there are more than 300 private enterprises engaged in packaging and printing. The town of Chaozhou, Chaozhou City, has driven the development of plastic flexible packaging manufacturing companies (printing, bag making, etc.) due to the development of the local food industry. The town has more than 400 companies engaged in packaging production and has become the second largest pillar industry in the region.
