4.2 Two-phase ink system test
The adhesive or resin in the ink composition is preliminarily made into a microemulsion, containing a solid content of 30 to 50%, mixed with the paint pigment before ink jet printing, and attached to the fabric surface by jet printing and hot bake drying. The particle size of the latex is only 1 μm or less. Typically, the microemulsions contain modified acrylates, as well as acryl butadiene or octa-butadiene or modified butadiene copolymers. In the experimentally adjusted ink formulation, it is preferable to use an adhesive or a resin latex of 15 to 20% and a coating of 4 to 8% (both of which contain a solid content). If a small amount of moisture absorbent, such as urea, lower polyol, etc. is added, an ink system with suitable viscosity, surface tension and uniform particle size can be obtained.
Table 3 lists the aqueous emulsion inks for the experimental microemulsion resin (15%) and the CI Pigment Black 7 (4%). The ink was printed on an IMAJE S4 1000 ink jet printer for 20 × 20 cotton, Printed with polyester/cotton (60/40) fine cloth and 9921 silk twill. Its weight gain rate is about 5%.
